Dandruff is quite an embarrassing problem and usually caused by trauma, illness, hormonal disorders, improper diet especially lot of carbohydrates and sugar, deficiency of Vitamins, essential fatty acids and selenium.
I will suggest you this brown sugar and honey scrub that should be used once every week or two to fight dandruff. Honey helps draw moisture toward the hair and scalp, sealing it in. Honey also has well-known antibacterial properties, which combat the dandruff. Meanwhile the brown sugar gently exfoliates without damaging the skin. Combined with one of the good shampoo like Neutrogena, this recipe will see to it that your dandruff doesn’t stand a chance.
2tbsp Brown sugar- light or dark will do
Mix together the honey and brown sugar in a small bowl or your hand, reducing or increasing either ingredient until you find a texture that is comfortable for you. Gently exfoliate the scalp with this mixture for 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and wash as usual.
There are other remedies too like-
- Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon and apply it after shampoo (when you are rinsing your hair) that will give intense shine viscosity and also removes or prevents the dandruff.
- Boil in the water, the roots of beetroot (white ones are more recommended) and this water should be massaged on the scalp with the fingertips every night.
- Expose the scalp to the sun, a maximum of 30 minutes, early in the morning or after 4pm. The sun has anti-inflammatory effect on the skin that is shed.
Do not neglect the condition. If nothing works, do consult a dermatologist, who would prescribe a proper and stronger medication.
The person having dandruff should consume a diet with more emphasis on raw foods, especially fruits and vegetables and avoid eating meat, sugar, white flour, tea or coffee, condiments, refined and processed foods.
Massage the scalp daily with your fingertips. This should be done before or after brushing the hair which will improve the circulation and help to improve the condition.
Keep the hair and scalp clean, to avoid accumulation of dead cells.
Wish you all a healthy hair!
