Dermalogica Precleanse and Daily Microfoliant Review

Dermalogica has been in the market for so long and I am sure all of you have heard about this brand too. It is one of the favourite brand of many salons and also of many skin care professionals. The salons have many facial treatments also from the Dermalogica brand too. The best part about the Dermalogica brand is that you can customize the products or the treatment suitable for your skin. Recently I attended a masterclass about the Dermalogica Hero products and today I will talk about the 2 products that I got for review, i.e. Dermalogica Precleanse and Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

Dermalogica products are extremely safe to use on all skin types specially the sensitive skin. None of their products have Scents, Artificial Colours, Parabens or Alcohol that would irritate the skin. Let’s now go ahead to discuss the 2 Hero products of Dermalogica.
1. Dermalogica Precleanse :
The smell of this Precleanse is like one of the fruit candy that I used to eat in a box in my childhood. Nostalgic completely ! It is a natural scent of the ingredients and no artificial scents have been added. The smell is not all annoying.
Precleanse contains Olive oil, Apricot Oil, Kukui Nut, Borage Seed Oil and Rice Bran Oils. Even though it contains a lot of oils, it is not all greasy or sticky. Suitable for all skin types. It is perfectly alright to use this on oily skin too and not to worry about break outs at all.
As the name suggest, it should be used before using the cleanser. Dermalogica Precleanse is a deep cleansing oil that melts impurities and makeup from skin. You should first begin to clean your face always with oil, if you have makeup all over your face. It dissolves oil-based makeup, waterproof mascara, sunscreens and sebum. It deep cleanses without compromising on the skin barrier, resulting in cleaner smoother skin.
Precleanse has to be applied on dry skin, massaged then wet hands and then rinsed with Luke warm water. But it is just precleanse and you should follow it up with a suitable cleanser. Avoid this product if you are allergic to nuts.
2. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant :
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is a powder exfoliant which gets activated with water and forms a very soft foam.
Daily Microfoliant contains Rice Bran, Papain, Phytic Acid, Brightening Complex of Liquorice, Rice and Grapefruit. It is suitable for all skin types. Be really careful when you pour the product on to your hand, as the first time I put it, I ended up having considerable amount of Daily Microfoliant and had to use it up eventually as I couldn’t pour it back in.

Ideally around a pea size or half teaspoon powder on your hand should be enough. Mix it with a little water and rub it in between the hands to form a foam. Then apply this to your face. Since it turns into a foam, you can hardly feel the granules as they become negligible. It is very gentle compared to any other exfoliants and not at all harsh for my sensitive skin specially. The ingredients micro-exfoliate the dull skin parts, boost cell renewal and instantly leave the skin noticeably smoother and brighter. Their unique Skin Brightening Complex helps to balance uneven skin pigmentation while a super-soothing blend of Green Tea, Ginkgo and Colloidal Oatmeal helps to calm the skin leaving it extraordinarily clear and refreshed. Though it is a very good product to use on a daily basis, but I don’t prefer exfoliating my skin daily and prefer to use it twice or thrice in a week. It is very gentle but yet very effective.
A word of caution :
* Don’t keep the lid open while having your shower, or else the entire product would be activated and would be wasted. Close the lid tightly after use.
* Don’t use daily microfoliant too close to the eye.
* It is very important to use sunblock or moisturiser with SPF, if you use microfoliant on a daily basis which gets rid of the top layer of the skin.
* Please perform a patch test, before you decide to invest in any skin care product, to see whether it suits you or no.
Overall Review :
Both the products are just fabulous. I just love love the precleanse and it one of the best makeup removers that I have come across so far. It has become an important part of my daily cleansing regime. Daily Microfoliant is just way too good for an exfoliant as the ones I usually use do erode my skin and cause a little redness. Daily Microfoliant was really very gentle on skin. Though Dermalogica products are little on the higher end price but a value for money when it comes for an effective skin brand. You will definitely see good results. They demonstrated all the products on me in the masterclass and my skin was glowing after it. Will definitely repurchase them.
